<attrdef>This indicates the percentage of transects with their center in a polygon included in the list of values for calculating estimated values related to feature widths of the polygon feature that the center of the centerline feature is within.
Occasionally auto-generated transects were created in tapered areas of features or in a bend or turn of a feature which resulted in shorter or longer transects relative to the general shape of a feature. To address this error, some of the transects used for estimating width-related values were calculated with a percentage of the longest transects excluded. For estimated values that were calculated with filtered transects due to anomalies during the transect generation, if the transect length representing the 87.5-percentile was greater than 10 percent of the mean average, transects greater than that 87.5-percentile value were excluded from the width-related calculations. If the transect length representing the 95-percentile was greater than 10 percent of the mean average, transects greater than that 95-percentile value were excluded from the width-related calculations. If no transect lengths were greater than 10 percent of the mean average of all transects, then all transects were used for the estimated width calculations.</attrdef>

<idPurp>Non-Motorized infrastructure centerlines within public spaces in Kankakee County, Illinois.</idPurp>
<idAbs>

Non-Motorized infrastructure polygons (sidewalks, shared paths, etc.) within public spaces in Kankakee County, Illinois. Features are categorized by facility type. Features were created by referencing the 2020 ortho image of Kankakee County (Will County (2019) for areas in Kankakee River State Park) and GPS points collected for features newer than the ortho image. Sidewalks at Bishop McNamara High School are included. Portions of Kankakee River State Park have not been included. This includes areas south of the Kankakee River and some areas in Will County.

For locations where a sidewalk and driveway intersected, features such as concrete or asphalt driveways and alleys were determined based on interpretation of the ortho image. Where it appeared that a sidewalk cut through a driveway or similar feature, the feature was categorized as sidewalk. If the driveway or similar feature appeared to cut through the sidewalk, the feature was categorized a driveway, alley, etc.

The category for "Marked Crosswalks" is used for areas where pavement markings delineating a crosswalk was observed in the ortho image. The features in the dataset are generally representative of the areas from the end of each sidewalk on either side of a road and do not necessarily represent of the location of the markings on the pavement in the ortho image

The category for "Unmarked Crosswalks" is interpreted as an unmarked area of a road typically at intersections, that has sidewalks approaching from both sides of the street, but does not have pavement markings delineating a crosswalk observable in the ortho image.

The presence of marked or unmarked crosswalks in this dataset in not intended to be used for the purposes of safety or suitability for crossing a road.

Feature widths were generated using centerline transects distributed along the length of each feature and are intended to be used as estimates. Feature widths were not derived from any engineering plans or field measurements.

</idAbs>

<measDesc>Features were reviewed for horizontal accuracy relative to the 2020 ortho image of Kankakee County.</measDesc>
<evalMethDesc>657 randomly selected features were reviewed to establish a 99-percent level of confidence with a 5-percent margin of error. Accuracy is referenced to the center of the corresponding non-motorized polygon. Independent points were created at the midpoint of the selected centerlines. Transects were created at the midpoint of those centerlines, which were clipped to the edges of the corresponding polygon. Midpoints were created from the transects which served as target points. The x and y values were used to calculate accuracy. The resulting accuracy values, measured in US Survey Feet, are 0.541399237 (RMSE), 0.9370538 (NSSDA).</evalMethDesc>
